Though apparently seems simple but preparing keyway is one of the difficult maching operations-increase in cost due to various operation in involved – setting & down time + matching time + other such as :
- Lateral shifting of Keyways : in process it is extremely difficult to set the center line of the keyway exactly symmetrical and parallel with respect to the radial plane ;
- Heavy torsional stresses are concentrated at the corner of the keyway so shaft is weakened.
- Deviation in keyway width.
- Not parallel to the axis.
- Inaccuracy in Key.
The cumulative effect of the all above (operational) errors is really call for an alternative system-keyless Transmission.

Entirely eliminates the disadvantages of key transmission and conventional shrink connections and also involved calculations, extremely close matching tolerances - creating problems while fitting & removing parts and during repair work – adjustment, exchanging etc. It efficiently replaces, key & polygon connections, splined shafts etc.

The elements have great absorbing capacity of kinetic energy by elastic radial deformation of tapered rings. The method is also very simple. By expansion of the outer & shrinkage of inner rings, frictional shaft & hub connections are established, which transmits highest torques free from backlash.

ELEMENTS - SHRINK DISC
(is to be fitted on Hub) forming locking connection by tightening standard hex head screws provided with standard tools. The same transmissible torque value, almost can be achieved even when varying the nominal dimensions slightly when using the same clearances. After loosing the locking screws element is released and Hub can be moved along the shaft.
CHARACTERISTICS :
Elements are most suitable for securing all types of bosses and hubs on shafts and axles.
- No Keyway, No extra maching No notch effect.
- Perfect true running – absolutely no play.
- Easy adjustability / Easy exchangeability – Need nos tops.
- Easy mounting :- elements are tightened using standard screws and standard tools, Extra maching or fitting work is not required.
- Easy removal : - release screws saving much time, and the elements can be removed the step angle of the double tapers prevent self-locking and ensures the element can be released without difficulty.
- Freedom from wear - Having no moving parts.
- Overload protection effect – When the permissible load is exceeded, elements will slip. In this way, they cansafeguard valuable machine components against damage. However the slip causes fretting of the contact surfaces, so elements should not be used as slip clutch.
- Maintenance Friendly.
FEATURES :
N7012 – for highly stressed connections & wide machinery tolerances having range from 20 mm and above & torque from 270 Nm and above.
N7013 – for higher concentricity where required. Transmission torque limit is higher than N7012.
N7014 – similar to N7012 but higher torque limit than N7012 & N7013, range from shaft dia 60mm & above.
N7015-self centering but lower torque limit than N7014 range from shaft 90 mm & above.
N7016 – self centering used in conveyor drums.
N7020 – used as shaft coupling for rigid horizontal shaft connection for medium torque alignment.
N500 – used as shaft coupling for rigid horizontal shaft connection for medium torque transmission. N8006 - used where boss dia is limited. Range from shaft dia 5mm & above.
For lowest torque transmission.
N250 – used for self centering. Ranging from shaft 10 to 100 mm. Torque transmission from 48Nm to 15010Nm.
N4071 – Split type Standard mode, range from 20mm & above.
N4051-Light duty model Range from shaft dia 100mm & above.
N4091 – Heavy duty model Range from shaft dia 100mm & above.
NS4071 – Split type Standard model, Range from 20mm & above.
If higher functional value needed, it can be obtained by adding number of elements (i.e.1+1)
